This vintage postcard was mailed using a purple 4 cent Lincoln stamp in April 1964 to Miss Catherine Robbins, 231 Washington St., Riverside, N.J. It reads:
Thurs. Apr. 16
Hi,
x marks the spot where we hang our hats and it sure is wonderful here and hate to leave it tomorrow. We have met such friendly people and I do hope you all are feeling better. Love, Alice & Doc.
Written at the top by the description is: staying here for a wk.
So. This address is an Original Pancake House. Another vintage postcard found online seems updated, noting 60 rooms with efficiencies and apartments, two heated pools and a coin laundry (still owned/managed by the Fawls). The White Star Motel, Inc. was incorporatedĀ June 19, 1967 and is currently listed online as inactive; it is possible the incorporation took place once the White Star picked up an adjoining property. No matter how you look at it, the White Star is gone and I can’t find any listing for the owner/managers either.
