This lovely vintage postcard was mailed using a red 2 cent Jefferson stamp from Las Vegas New Mexico August 3, 1957. It was sent to Mrs. Bertha Kuhns, St. Bernice, Indiana. It reads:
Fri. eve
Dear Mom,
We’re in camp behind these motels. Have stayed over to see Teddy Roosevelt’s Rough Riders Reunion and Rodeo. Leaving in the A.M. Love Florence.
I did a little digging and still can’t find anything on this place. It seems that maybe it was lost when the highway system went through? Las Vegas NM hosted the first Rough Rider Reunion. If you want to read more about cowboy reunions in New Mexico, perhaps you’d like to read this book. For some reason, I’ve never been particularly interested in cowboys, so you’re not going to get an in-depth discussion here at catobear.com. Sorry to disappoint.
