The Traders Resort Motel, or more recently, Traders Ocean Resort, is reported closed. Though looking at Google Streetview, it’s not the same building/complex as on this lovely card. It seems that once again, a small motel closed, to be replaced by a new modern complex, which also closed.
I think this postcard is the perfect mix of tropical happiness. You’ve got the repeating blue tones of the sky, the ocean, the pool and the striped umbrellas. There’s plenty of palm trees, and those closest to the motel are blowing in the breeze (close your eyes and you can hear them, no?). Radio and music in each room! Courteous and friendly service! It must have been quite a complex, with the pool, shuffleboard and a putting green, in addition to the dining room and cocktail lounge. You can just see the thatched top of a little cabana, which strangely makes me think of the Brady Bunch episodes where the family went to Hawaii (come on, you just heard the little warning music in your head denoting suspense, didn’t you? Want to hear it for real? Here you go – from this excellent website).
