Bob and I made a quick trip over the weekend to Minneapolis to see They Might Be Giants live at First Avenue. They are my all-time favorite band, since Flood dropped in 1990 (thanks, Elizabeth Sheldon!). I saw them with my sister Kirsten at the State Theater in Kalamazoo (1995?).
The show was sold out, 1500 tickets.
The venue is standing room, but you’re about 50 feet from the stage at the back of the room. It’s a great venue.
The full setlist is here, but I have to tell you I was so pleased for the mix of songs. Of course Birdhouse in Your Soul, but also The Guitar, Mammal, Ana Ng and They’ll Need a Crane.
Seeing my favorite band ever with my best friend? Amazing. Photos of the rest of the trip will be up later this week.
