This lovely vintage postcard has the AAA and the Member of the Congress of Motor Hotels Diners Club logos. It was mailed using a purple four cent Canada stamp. The postmark is unintelligible, but the writer thoughtfully added the date to assist us! This card was mailed to Mrs. Bates Graham, Cor. Burlington Ave. N. & 45th Street N, St. Petersburg, Fla. (what an address! Would it get there marked as such today?). It reads:
115- 1st Ave. North, Sauble Beach, Ont. Apr. 11/58.
Dear Friends: Arrived home yesterday noon after a wonderful trip & nice sunny weather all the way. Found everything fine at our home. Write sometime. Best to you all from all of us. Helen D.
Okay, first…I did not misspell rhythm in the “Pulse-A-Rythm” mattresses…it is spelled that way on the card. I admit, rhythm is a tricky word to spell, and perhaps I’d get it wrong if I didn’t think about it, kind of like diarrhea. I can’t ever spell that damn word, and I write it at least weekly (either that says something about my job or about my sense of humor…take your pick). Anyhow, here’s a nice little post about the Magic Fingers brand of vibrating hotel room beds.
I love this card. The palm trees! The bathing suits! Fabulous. The motel sounds nice, too…everything you would want.
The address isn’t the same, but it is clearly the old Skyway…check out the Flamingo Resort. Well, actually, don’t really check out the website with the photos online if you’re at work. Seriously. Here’s one from Trip Advisor that is safe for work:
