This lovely vintage postcard has the AAA and Recommended by Duncan Hines Lodging for a Night logos. It has not been sent. This flikr account has a 1948 receipt from the RESTANITE here. There are other postcards featuring this place online with slightly different information:
RESTANITE RESORT MOTEL
Scenic Drive U.S. 27-A North
Lake Wales, Florida Phone 3-5871
Villa efficiencies, Air conditioning, T.V. Private beach, swimming, boating, fishing, putting green, playground, shuffleboard.
“Relax in the midst of Florida orange groves,
Between Bok Tower and Cypress Gardens”
There’s a weird reocities.com project for which you can donate bitcoins (I swear, someday someone will read that and think WTF, is that even a sentence?) here that has some history of the Lake of the Hills area. It seems to be a tour, and lists the “Self House” as belonging to Mr. Self from the Restanite.
Anyhow, the address is unspecific. I can’t find a Lake of the Hills. I can find Bok Tower. Is Rest-A-Nite still around? Unlikely.
