This lovely vintage postcard has not been postally used. The Queen’s Crown had a featured ad in The Evening Independent in 1957, found here on Google News.
Looking at Google Street, it’s possible that what the original lobby was still exists. The building, now listed as a single family residence, was built in 1956. However, you can sort of see the old wing of apartments/motel rooms from this angle:
or this angle here:
It would seem to be still used as apartments, but I can’t really find any details on it. Also, no data on either Ruth or Dave Elwood.

The picture of the Queen’s Crown (and the more recent private home) brings back good memories of Florida! I love that area of the country! The waters of the Gulf of Mexico are stunningly beautiful and the western shores of Florida offer lovely sunsets. Gulf Blvd is picturesque and charming for its entire length. The time we’ve spent in the St Pete area has elevated it to one of the more desirable places to live in the continental U.S. Great pictures and descriptions!

Kooka, we have had some wonderful trips to Florida! I often think of us retiring there when I look at these places that used to be motels. Remember the house we looked at near that restaurant? The one with the wild, grown-over backyard.
I am already looking forward to our next vacation with palm trees 🙂
