This lovely vintage postcard features the AAA and American Hotel Association logos. It was mailed using a 3 cent purple liberty stamp on September 1, 1961 to Mr. Fred Seitz, Duplate, Creighton, PA. It reads
Hello [unintelligible]
How are you. Hope you are well and doing good. Kinda hot here but we still have a good breeze. The dogs just closed at Hollywood. Will have to wait a mo.now. Bill Gr.
At the top of the card, Bill has written “Son-in Law Plays Here” with an arrow pointing to the name of the hotel.
In case you had difficulty identifying it, the photo image on the card has the hotel name three times. One of them has Ben B. Gaines, who also owned the motel Sahara On the Ocean at 18335 Collins Avenue in Miami. Ben was born on March 21, 1904 and died on October 30, 1996 at 92 years old. This website has got some great information on the Miami Skyways. I don’t believe this hotel still stands today.
