This lovely vintage postcard is unused. This is the second time we’ve featured the Lodi Motel (original post here). This newer card notes the addition of more motel space as the original was only 812 South Atlantic Avenue and this incorporates the 808. There are other new details in the description of the motel, and Red and Helen have their names spelled out.
There is a listing for Ernest Stearns, related to Red and Helen. He is 87 years old now. I wrote to him, to see if he had any memories or history he’d like to share. I’ll update this if I hear back.
This is a great card. First, isn’t that a Corvair parked in the first spot? It also looks like they combed the dirt lot entrance recently for the photo. The lovely old sign on the top is gone, replaced with a more basic version.
