Did some weeding and cleaning up in the garden this week. Nearly everything seems to have survived the winter. I probably have two or three replacements to make and will fill in with annuals once the weather seems solid (May).
The yard borders on the gardens will get orange marigolds once the danger of frost is over. Everything else just needs to fill in.
The bleeding heart has already come into bloom:
The brunnera is in bloom. The deer didn’t touch it last year, so I may add a few new ones to the side shade garden in May. Seems easier than constantly battling them over the astilbe and hostas.
Still need to get the hummingbird feeder out. Have been filling the jelly feeder daily for the orioles, but have yet to see one.
