Garden Update

I can’t believe we’re nearly half way into July already. The garden is doing very well. We haven’t had any rain in weeks, so I was very pleased to have a downpour today. I won’t have to water tonight, which will be a nice change.

I’m really pleased with the way the garden turned out this year. I added a few more plants in the side shade garden, which I will need to take photos of. The astilbe are looking great this year.

The flowering tobacco is giant. I don’t think I’ll plant those again next year. They take up too much space and instead of being fragrant, they have no smell at all and the hummingbirds and bees don’t even seem that interested.

Last night in the sweltering heat I wound up finishing digging up an area of the lilies of the valley and transplanting them to the side yard, then digging up the garden phlox and moving those down to where the lilies were, then adding some new plants and mulching. I’ll take photos when the rain clears up.
