Kirsten and Troy came to Michigan for a visit. They stopped by the shelter to play with the cats and dogs. That’s Waffles and Sarasin, who were both adopted a few days after their visit.
Kirsten, Mom and I went to Detroit on Friday. We stopped in Corktown at the Brooklyn Street Local. The food was awesome! Thanks for the recommendation, Angie!
After lunch, we drove to Belle Isle. Mom hadn’t been there since she was little.
I think we were all surprised at how lovely it was, and how few people were there enjoying it.
James Scott Memorial Fountain, built in 1925.
We spent quite a bit of time in the Anna Scripps Whitcomb Conservatory, designed and built in 1904.
It is the oldest continually running conservatory in the United States.
Also, it’s free.
After the conservatory, we went to the beach and waded in the Detroit River.
Monday, Kirsten and I spent the day boutique shopping. We started out at Old Town Lansing. Of course, a visit to October Moon is required.
After that, we headed back to Marshall for lunch at Zarzuela and antique shopping.
This amazing piece is also a light. So much awesomeness.
After Marshall, we made a quick dash to Station 66 for ice cream.
As always, the time with my sister is too short. I wish there weren’t so many miles between Battle Creek and Portland.
