This lovely vintage card was mailed from Fort Lauderdale February 18, 1963 using a four cent Winslow Homer stamp (like this one here) to Mr. & Mrs. J Geiger, 1060 Prorily Ave, Toledo 9 Ohio. It reads:
Sunday Feb 17 It is down to 50 degrees today I did not get to church yesterday it rained all day it did not quit till 10 that evening this is where we are staying tonight I have a nice cold Pearl
There is not a bit of punctuation in that message. None.
According to Google Street View, it’s still a motel. Gone is the cute awning, the fancy script, lawn chairs and shrubbery. It’s rather stark and dare I say, unattractive?
It is now called the Sky Motel. Yellow Pages has it listed as motels which can be paid by the hour, I shit you not. I never expected Yellow Pages would call that out specifically. Do you think the Sky Motel paid for the listing that way?
