This lovely vintage postcard was mailed from Boca Raton on March 21, 1967 using a gray 5 cent Washington stamp. It was mailed to Mrs. Carrie Enger, 404 1/2 East Benton, Morris, Illinois. It reads:
Hi Nana,
We arrived safely after 29 1/2 hrs. of driving. This is our motel! So far we’ve been having a great time. We’re going swimming in the Atlantic tomorrow.
It’s too bad you all are shoveling snow while we are soaking up that good Florida sun! I’m mean! Love, Deb.
Deb, that heartless wench! Rubbing in her Nana’s face that poor Nana has to shovel snow (possibly suffering a heart attack!) while Deb relaxes in the warmth of Florida. Bet Nana wishes Deb met with a shark on that swim in the Atlantic! 404 E Benton in Morris Illinois is now a single family home. It does look older, so it’s possible it was split into two apartments at one time.
Under a search for the address, it looks like this Quality Inn might be the old hotel! Check it out (Google Streetview):
The Quality Inn gets pretty good reviews on Yelp!
