After a little digging, I found that the place still stands, though changed quite a bit. This page has the history of the 400 Motel and what happened to it. It lists the motel as being built in the 1960s, with significant additions doubling its size taking place in the 1970s. It kept its name as the 400 Motel through the 1990s, after which it became a Travelodge. It is currently operating under the Seaside Inn & Suites Clearwater Beach name. You can reserve your room here.
I have found a funeral listing for Dorothy: Dorothy A. Rickettes, 90, of Largo, died Saturday (April 22, 2000) at Arden Court, Largo. She was born in Louisville, Ky., and came to Florida in 1952 from Indianapolis. She was a homemaker and owned and operated a motel. She was a member of Espiritu Santo Catholic Church, Safety Harbor. Survivors include a daughter, Jayne Meissner, Clearwater Beach; a son, Donald, Monterey, Va.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
