Sunny and humid today, a few storms. Nice, relaxing weekend. Can't believe tomorrow is Monday already.
Colin is doing so much better! He spent some time with me, hanging out in my office this morning. By afternoon, he was in the kitten cage on the adoptable floor. I'm sure he's going to be adopted right away...his story will draw people in. I am going to miss him!
It's been a long week, and I'm looking forward to a relatively stress-free weekend.
April, holding Colin, in the kitten cage. Isn't he just adorable?
Good news, Colin should be getting his stitches out tomorrow. He'll probably be able to go up on the adoptable floor right away. He's crazy to get out of the cage and get around some people. He's such a sweetheart, really an amazing miracle kitty with so much love for people!
First day in a few where we don't have any storms. We've been lucky not to lose our power. I'm tired and very cranky tonight for some unknown reason.
Happy Solstice! It was sunny and lovely today. I spent a few hours this evening sitting on the front porch, watching the hummingbirds. Or, what really could just be one male hummingbird who has chased everyone else away and makes frequent trips. Who knows? But I haven't seen any of the females in a few weeks.
Last night I made up nectar, cleaned the feeder and put miracle grow on the flowers, so tonight I really only had to water and relax. It was lovely!
Colin is doing much better. He had the drain in his stomach and the port for the IV in his arm taken out over the weekend, and he is playing like crazy in his cage. He is always so happy to see you, wanting to kiss your nose! If he continues to do well, he might even make it to the adoptable floor by Friday!
This flower was in the group Mom gave me to plant after the flood took out their side yard (two years ago?). It's really the only thing that survived out of what she gave me, and it has just two stalks with a single bloom apiece.
I bought this flower last year at the end of the season. Should have retained the tag, as I have no idea what it is. The thing that attracted me the most is the color...that mix of blue and purple. I planted three, but only got one back this year. Overall though, the flower gardens look really good this year. I'm pleased!
For those who are interested, Colin was doing well this morning. Dr. Ron says we should still prepare for him not to make it, but each day is a day better.
Hot, hot, hot today...90 and high humidity. Big storm came through tonight though. Saved me from having to water.
We're just wrapping up for the evening at 10:50pm. We are probably going to be able to shower at home tomorrow afternoon, though!
This is my little Colin. He was cryptorchid, so he had surgery for that a week ago today. He had complications from surgery and developed a really high fever. Yesterday he had to go in for a second surgery. So much for his first 12 weeks of life!
He has a drain in his abdomen which needs to be cleaned out a few times a day, and a port in his arm for the medications he needs. We should know by the end of the week how he's doing and if he's going to make it. So many people are keeping this little cat in their thoughts...hopefully that helps. He has my heart in his tiny little paws.
The chipmunks are driving me nuts with digging in the mulch and flower pots.
Okay, I guess the camera is focusing on the foreground and not the hummingbird. I'll try to figure that one out.
The side shade garden. We worked like dogs today! It's been super-hot and humid today, really unpleasant.
Bob cut the grass and the yard looks really good with all the plantings.
The two side panels are braced against each other. Hopefully they stick.
How is it that the mundane things that don't belong in the grass, like dandilions and this clover, make the best photos? This afternoon we found that either we have Cato the Carnivore or Maxy the Mouse-Slayer, as two half-eated mice were waiting on the basement floor for clean up. Just the torsos and heads remained. We have lots of hummingbirds now, and the gardens are really starting to look nice.
Hot today. Bob and I took the day off to make progress on the bathroom project. We're one day closer to being done.
Stopped at Mom and Dad's for a shower this morning, and snapped photos of Mom's garden. The little kitten, Colin, who had trouble in surgery yesterday still isn't doing very well. He is very much in my thoughts.
Stopped by Mom and Dad's to take a shower after breakfast. Mom's gardens look incredible this year!
Now we have a tub with plumbing and green board. Bob has to finish the plastering, put up the shower enclosure, and put in the faucet. It's progress.
Today was beautiful, sunny and 77 degrees. I have had so many hummingbirds at the feeder! I identified three different ones tonight. I made fresh nectar and cleaned out the feeder after dinner. One of the females drank, then came up to the front window and hovered there in front of me for like 30 seconds, almost as if to say thanks! I enjoyed that! and then took off. I love feeding them! What a good time I am having with the feeder this year :)
Bob took today off, and we're both off tomorrow to work on the bathroom. He got all the plumbing done for the bath and shower today, which was a whole lot of work. Nothing is ever a standard fit in an old home!
I've been pondering a small planter or set of pots out by the mailbox. It's what I think of as I try to fall asleep at night. We'll see what I wind up doing with that. This weekend I need to weed and mulch the side shade garden.
After a rainy day yesterday, today was sunny. It's been hot, in the mid to upper 90s, for the past week but that's okay. I mulched the new edged beds in the front and installed some solar lights.
The flower pots are starting to look more full. We're supposed to get rain the next five days, so we'll see how things look at the end of that. We didn't get home until late, so I didn't see the hummingbirds tonight.
